  • Mormon Handcart Park

    Between 1856-1860 over 2,500 Latter-day Saints began their handcart emigration West from this area. https://sustainability.uiowa.edu/mormon-handcart-park

  • Handcart Memorial

    The Mormon Historic Site Foundation erected a replica of the Torleif Knaphus handcart sculpture in Coralville, Iowa near 849 Quarry Rd. A similar sculpture can be found on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.

  • Nauvoo, IL

    Nauvoo was the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1839 to 1846. The once-thriving city overlooks the Mississippi River and includes many historic buildings, with the centerpiece being the now-rebuilt temple. Visitor information is available here.
